Skyline
Son of common bat ponies, rose through the ranks of the Lunar guard to become the head of the Lunar guard and confidant to Luna.  In the war, he was sent to the griffon kingdom to broker a treaty with them for assistance agianst the Zebra.
While in the Kingdom, the great ending of Canterlot and the war shook all of Equestria, even the Griffon Kingdom was not spared.   The shockwaves of chaos and damage shook the Grifffons in their mountain homes. 
Within the Griffon's castle, walls shook, pillars, statues to griffons great and small fell.  A large statue to a mythical King of the past almost fell upon the youngest of the Griffon Kings daughters.  If not for the fast actions of one selfless Bat Pony, she would have been crushed under the massive statue.  Sadly, virtue came at a cost.  THe princess was spared, but the lunar pony's forelegs, used to push her out of the way, were crushed under the statue.
As a gift of thanks, the griffons aided the wounded soldier, giving him the height of their cybernetics.  Never ment for ponies, the limbs were griffon in make and model.
Once the stallion awoke, and was told of what the rumours were of Canterlot, of Equestria, he tried to raise and found himself weak, wounded of body and soul.
The griffons eldest daughter herself, in way of personal thanks, helped him recover.  Showing him how to use his new appendages, and how to fight, like a griffon.
Once he was hale enough, he bid the griffons farewell and returned to Canterlot.  Finding the citry befouled with pink mist, citizens gone to who knows where..  And now, he has to find a life, within the destroyed world of former Sunshine and Rainbows.
